A cordless drill without suitable power equipment is not a complete working tool. Ask for model identifiers on the machine, battery and charger. A shared brand or similar colour does not establish compatibility. Ask about previous use and known problems before arranging an ordinary functional demonstration. The included case alone does not show that all components belong together.

Inspect the chuck without power

Remove the battery as directed before handling accessories. Examine accessible chuck parts, cabinet and grip for visible damage. The jaws should open and close through the intended controls. Bent bits are not a suitable basis for judging chuck alignment.

Any suitable straight bit must be correctly and securely clamped. A short no-load run may show obvious wobble but does not measure precise runout. Keep hands and loose clothing away from moving parts. Dismantling the gearbox or chuck does not belong in an ordinary buying inspection.

Assess battery and charging separately

Look for cracks, deformation and damaged battery contacts. If condition is abnormal, do not continue charging or trying it. Never open a battery or bypass a catch. Manufacturer information determines the combination; Bosch Professional lists intended batteries and chargers in its manuals.

A full charge indicator does not describe remaining capacity. Ask about observed use time and its conditions. Do not compare a brief screw-driving trial with running-time claims for a different application. A required replacement battery can substantially affect the overall price.

Have normal controls demonstrated

Check direction, speed controls and intended settings against the manual. A working trial requires suitable material, a securely clamped workpiece and appropriate protective equipment. An unknown wall or surface potentially containing wiring is not a sensible test location.

Record exceptional noise, smell or interruptions and have their cause assessed. A damaged charger is a separate defect even when the drill runs briefly. List the case, auxiliary handle and intended accessories individually. That turns an unclear complete-set claim into a checkable inventory.

Common questions

Will every battery of the same voltage fit?

No. System, connection and approved application must match. Voltage alone does not establish a safe combination.

Does a strong no-load run prove enough power?

No. It shows behaviour without working load. A suitable ordinary task can add observations but is not a complete stress or battery test.
