An air fryer’s basket and drawer are directly involved in food preparation. Assess them individually even if the exterior looks new. Ask for the exact model version and its intended inserts. A similar basket may slide into place without being the approved component. Establish what belongs to the appliance before discussing an operational demonstration.
Inspect contact surfaces while cold
Look at the basket base, edges and areas beneath removable inserts. Distinguish greasy deposits, surface marks and clearly detached coating. Philips explains that accidental scratching can leave coating marks. That does not provide a universal assessment of every damaged basket or other material.
For uncertain areas, request model-specific advice and a replacement price. Do not scrape the spot further to investigate. Aggressive cleaning products can also make assessment harder. Photograph the condition as found before agreeing to cleaning.
Check the handle and drawer seating
Move the cold drawer as instructed. Look for broken supports, loose handle components and normal engagement of any latch. A displaced drawer differs from a cracked plastic part. The seller should be able to identify which components belong to the model.
Inspect the external cable, feet and ventilation openings. The intended location must provide the clearances in the manufacturer’s guidance. Fitting inside a closed cupboard does not establish that operation there is permitted. Warm exhaust air needs its intended clear path.
Clarify operation and care separately
Use a correctly assembled appliance with all required parts for a demonstration following its instructions. Observe controls, fan and intended programme functions. Bypassing drawer detection is not a useful trial. Stop if unusual smells, smoke or electrical damage appear and obtain qualified assessment.
Establish permitted cleaning for the basket, rack and drawer. Dishwasher suitability may differ between parts. Include required replacement inserts rather than considering the low appliance price alone. A turning fan does not demonstrate even cooking, and one successful meal is not a complete condition assessment.
