A polished dryer cabinet says little about care of its air paths. Obtain the exact model and establish its design first. Vented, condenser and heat-pump dryers have different installation and maintenance requirements. A water collection tank is therefore not an expected component on every appliance, and the supplied accessories need to match the particular design.
Look beyond the top of the filter
With the appliance switched off and cool, open the lint filters identified as accessible in its manual. Check frames, catches and mesh for tears or missing areas. Substantial lint is visible, but this does not establish cleanliness throughout the internal air path. Keep the cabinet closed during this inspection.
Bosch describes regular lint-filter care for its dryers. The particular design determines which parts are removable and how they should be cleaned. A self-cleaning feature does not mean all owner maintenance disappears. Compare the fitted components with the model instructions.
Establish how water is handled
On machines with a condensate tank, inspect its handle, runners and visible surfaces for cracks. Ask whether the dryer was connected to a drain hose. An empty tank after a cycle may then be normal. Without knowing the drainage arrangement, a claim that it collects no water is difficult to interpret.
List connection accessories, any required exhaust hose and intended installation fittings. If the dryer will stand on a washing machine, the combination needs a suitable stacking arrangement. An arbitrary rubber mat or similar cabinet width does not establish safe stacking.
Make the observation relevant to use
Running an empty drum demonstrates movement but says little about drying results. Ask about a completed cycle with suitable damp laundry and record its programme and load. Those observations apply to those conditions; they do not measure every programme or predict remaining service life.
Check space, ventilation and the manual’s requirements at the proposed location. Stop a trial if there is an unusual smell, damaged wiring or markedly abnormal noise and obtain qualified assessment. Removing filters to demonstrate apparently stronger airflow is not a useful condition check.
Common questions
Does a warm drum prove effective drying?
No. Temperature is only part of the process. Load, moisture, programme and the resulting condition of the laundry all matter.
Can owners clean every heat exchanger?
No. Access and care procedures depend on construction. Follow the specific instructions and do not remove panels on speculation.
